Help Support the Mighty Mottes

Donation protected
As life-long friends of the Motte family, we wanted to share their story with a larger audience and encourage the Go Fund Me community to rally behind them as they persevere through the challenge of a lifetime. Our friends Taylor and Hannah Hyrne Motte have deep roots in Moncks Corner, SC. They are raising their 3 boys, Turner (9), Harvery (4) and River (2.5) under the lowcountry live oaks and the bright lights of the little league baseball stadium just around the corner from their home. Turner was looking forward to decorating his new bedroom with Atlanta Braves gear and USC posters in between trips to the pool this summer. Curiously, Turner began experiencing some intermittent nausea and vomiting this spring. After a mostly reassuring visit to his pediatrician this month, Turner's symptoms worsened over the May 7th weekend and he was taken to Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital in Charleston. It was at the Children's ER over the course of a few hours when Taylor, Hannah and Turner received a very difficult diagnosis. Turner's MRI showed a mass in his brain causing his condition to worsen and required immediate intervention.
Turner had brain surgery on May 9th and remains in the PICU at SJCH. There is undoubtedly a hard and uncertain road ahead for Turner and his family. The Mottes are blessed with wonderful family and friends to help support them during this time, but we understand this is a marathon, not a sprint. We are asking for a larger community of support to come alongside Turner with prayers and donations, if you are financially able to do so. As you would expect, there will be medical bills related to this lengthy and critical stay in the PICU.

June 2023 update:
Turner was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma and has a long recovery ahead of him including acute rehabilitation, chemotherapy and radiation. We rejoice to know that the neurosurgeon feels confident all of the tumor was removed, but due to the nature of the type of tumor Turner had he will need further treatment to make sure it does not return. Turner's medical team and physical therapy team highly recommended that he be transferred to Children's Hospital of Atlanta for inpatient rehab. He will begin radiation treatment and physical therapy at CHOA, as it is often referred to, very soon. Taylor and Hannah will be taking turns staying with Turner for the next 6 weeks as he gets stronger. As mentioned before, all funds will be used to help Taylor and Hannah with medical costs and also provide for Turner's younger brothers, Harvey and River, while their parents are by Turner's side. If you are unable to donate, please feel free to share with others in the community!
