The Miguel Mitchell Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Miguel was a beloved coworker at the Cleveland Museum of Art. His warm, beautiful smile would greet me almost every day on my way in to my office, as his daily schedule always put him right outside in the hallway as I was walking in. Conversations either with myself or overheard with other coworkers were sometimes about sports, but most of the time about his son Nazir, whom he was so proud of.
As soon as we got the news on Monday, a coworker reached out to our department letting us know that Miguel was a hero, literally saving another coworkers life just this past Saturday night. While it was wonderful to hear this story, I can't say that it surprised me too much - that "one of Miguel's final acts on this earth was that of compassion and heroism". It speaks volumes to what a truly wonderful human being he was.
His loss to the museum is great, so I can only imagine the profound sense of loss that his family is feeling right now, especially a young son who will forever miss his father. A son who is close in age to my own, so the thought of what this young man is going through, trying to process such is huge loss simply brings tears to my eyes.
These fund donations will go to his family to use as they see fit whether for arrangements or to put towards Nazir's future. It is the least we can do in memory of such a loving, caring young man.
Whether you are in the position to donate or not, please feel free to share your own stories and sentiments that can be shared with the family.
I thank you in advance for any donation you may be able to make.
