We started the Mikael Rayaan Foundation (MRF) on May 15, 2023, in the loving memory of two beautiful angels who brought light and joy to everyone who knew them. Our mission is to honor their legacy by working for the betterment of humanity through healthcare and related causes, including food and water, community support, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance both in the US and globally.

We are committed to making a positive impact on the world by providing resources and support to those in need. Through our work in medicine, we aim to improve the health and well-being of underprivileged individuals and communities around the world. In addition to our work in medicine, we are dedicated to serving those in need through social services. We believe that every person has the right to access necessities such as food, clean water, and shelter. We will work tirelessly to provide aid to those affected by natural disasters, poverty, and other humanitarian crises.

Through our efforts, we hope to create a brighter future for all. We believe that by embodying the spirit of Mikael and Rayaan, with their love, kindness, and generosity, we can make a difference in the lives of countless individuals and communities. We will honor their memory by continuing to spread their light and love throughout the world. Our foundation is dedicated to the pursuit of a better world, one that is more just, compassionate, and equitable. We invite you to join us in this journey and to honor the memory of Mikael and Rayaan by working for the betterment of humanity.

Projects

We will focus our work on healthcare and related causes, including food and water, community support, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance both in the US and globally. Our current and planned activities over the next three years will include:

United States

  • Islamic Center of Johnson County Community Support and Charitable Activities: We will support the Islamic Center of Johnson County volunteer drives, focused on community support such as supporting refugees/immigrants, charitable campaigns to support local causes, youth drives for the provision of essential supplies (clothing, non-perishable food items, hygiene products, etc.), and cooked meals/food for the needy.
  • Islamic Center of Johnson County Health Camp: We plan to support an annual free health camp at the Islamic Center of Johnson County in Overland Park, KS that will provide disease screening, preventive and primary care, and health advocacy and education efforts.

Global

Pakistan

  • AAPKA Clinic Pediatric Section, Lahore: We aim to offer comprehensive and compassionate care to children of underserved and low socio-economic class families. AAPKA Clinic in Lahore, Pakistan is a state-of-art tertiary care outpatient facility operated by the Al-Rafay Foundation that provides free diagnostic and therapeutic services to millions of poor and needy patients. We will support the Pediatric section at the AAPKA clinic. We provide free healthcare to children with routine check-ups and preventive care along with subspecialty consultation services, diagnostic/laboratory work-up, medications, and social assistance. All medical services, medicines, and transportation expenses are covered by charitable funding.
  • Bone Marrow Transplant, Children Hospital, Lahore: The bone marrow transplant (BMT) program at the Children Hospital Lahore is the nation’s only public sector BMT program that provides life-saving bone marrow transplantation to children with blood disorders such as thalassemia and aplastic anemia. BMT is inaccessible to middle to low-income families due to financial constraints and thousands of children die from blood diseases. We will work closely with Dr. Nasir Bukhari at the BMT program on several initiatives including capacity building and training of the staff to provide cutting-edge therapies such as an exchange scholar/fellowship program at the University of Kansas BMT program in Kansas City USA, medical literature subscriptions for easy access to new research advancements, combined clinical conferences to discuss challenging patients, collaboration in clinical research trials, and financial assistance for needy families to cover the cost of therapy.
  • Pediatric Surgical Supplies and Medicines, Children Hospital, Lahore: The Children Hospital Lahore is Asia’s biggest public sector pediatric hospital with over 2500 beds and provides services to millions of children many of whom are from poor families and are not able to afford necessities of life. We aim to collaborate with Children Hospital to provide vital assistance to needy families in the form of free medical and surgical supplies for life-saving surgeries, including medications, surgical instruments, implants, and other essential materials necessary for life-saving interventions. We will start with supporting surgical services with a plan to expand to other departments.
  • Visiting Medical Consultant, AAPKA Clinic, Lahore: The AAPKA Clinic in Lahore, Pakistan is a state-of-art tertiary care outpatient facility operated by the Al-Rafay Foundation that provides free diagnostic and therapeutic services to millions of poor and needy patients. We will provide volunteer medical and surgical consultants, both in-person and via telemedicine services, to deliver the highest level of care to underserved populations at no cost.
  • Daily Hospital Meals, Children Hospital Lahore: The Children Hospital Lahore provides services to millions of underprivileged children. In collaboration with the Gulzar e Medina Foundation, we will provide free cooked and balanced meals to the families at the Children Hospital Lahore to mitigate the impact of malnutrition and support the healing process.
  • Clean Drinking Water, Cholistan desert: Pakistan’s Cholistan desert represents a dry region with harsh living conditions and most of the inhabitants are poor and rural. Clean water is scarce, and most families must walk several kilometers to get clean water. We aim to provide clean water sources in poor water access areas in the desert through the installation of water pumps and filtration plants to promote health and prevent waterborne illnesses in underprivileged populations.
  • Daily Meals and Medical Support, Orphan Homes, Lahore: There are several orphan homes in Lahore, Pakistan; however, they are resource-limited and face several challenges including health and food. We will collaborate with Lahore’s orphan homes to provide free routine and emergency healthcare to orphans via the the AAPKA clinic. In collaboration with the Gulzar e Medina Foundation, we will provide food at orphanages in Lahore Pakistan, and plan to start with the provision of prepared daily meals to two orphan homes.
  • Weekly Meals on Wheels Camp at DHA EME Society, Lahore: There are thousands of undernourished and hungry people in Lahore. We have started a weekly meal service at the DHA EME society and there are long wait lines every week with poor needy people who get their food at the camp.

Turkey

  • Orphan Support, Istanbul, Turkey: Several recent events including war, political unrest, and natural disasters have displaced millions of families in the Middle East. We are planning to support orphans in Turkey. In collaboration with the Gulzar e Medina Foundation, we will support orphan kids in Istanbul, Turkey. We are planning to start by supporting ten children in the initial phase.
