The Moreno Family's Last Chance
Donation protected
This go-fund me is the last resort for my family. My name is Jason Moreno, and I was in a catastrophic motorcycle accident on 9\27\22. The accident has left me a quadriplegic. The person who hit me while making an illegal U-turn had no license, registration or insurance. So my family was left without any financial help while having to try and understand how to get through this life changing event. I was the one who was supporting the family and had been for some time now. My awesome wife Bridget has had to take on the role of caregiver because I require full time attention. So she wasn't able to return to work. We have three children who have had to watch as our lives have been destroyed. We have recently lost our home and my wife, our youngest son and myself are currently staying in a motel paid for by the state.
Our two older children are currently staying with friends from school. This is the first time we have been separated from one another in their lives. We have never been on welfare or state aid ever. So we had no idea how to navigate the system to get all the benefits a person in my condition is able to recieve. The length of time we are expected to wait is unbelievable.
It's been over a full year and my wife has yet to receive a single penny for providing my care which she has been approved for. We have done all we were told to do and followed all the very difficult instructions to try and recieve some help for our struggling family. So far I have been allowed less than $450 a month to support my family of five.
I'm not a man who can ask for help easily. My family has no idea that I have created this go-fund me. I'm really at the breaking point and can't bare to watch as my family suffers needlessly. I'm not looking for a hand-out and I don't want anyone to think that we are not capable of supporting ourselves. We just need to catch a break and need a little support to help us get back on our feet. We are trying to locate a new home but just don't meet the requirements the property management companies ask for. They require three times the amount of the rent to be considered as a worthy applicant. We just don't have the ability to meet that request.
I really don't know what kind of help I'm asking for, I just can't let my family suffer without at least trying. If there's anyone who is able to help us out there, I have to try and reach them. My children deserve my all. Even when it's down to their father asking the world for a little compasion.
I am begging for the break that my family is desperately needing. Please know that any help is greatly appreciated no matter how small. Also I know you don't know us but we don't have a very large support system so if you are willing to share my story it would be greatly appreciated. We kept our circle small.
- Our family is grateful for the generosity of the people who are currently helping with the children getting to and from school, and a place to stay so they don't have to stay in a very cheap motel. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my family's story. We appreciate all of you.
