The Museum For Black Girls

Donation protected
"Black Girl Magic" is more than a buzz-word or trend. It's the essence of Black women. The Museum for Black Girls is a space to celebrate this essence, as well as educate about the journey to our present state and liberation. Finally and more importantly, our museum serves as a love letter to Black women and our experience.

I'm Jess Rose, friend of the Museum Creator, Charlie Billingsley. This woman has brought so much inspiration to my life and others purely by her drive to pursue every passion that she dreams about. This museum is one of those incredible ideas that turned into an actual concept in late 2019. The pop-up museum featured vibrant and educational exhibits. Charlie's museum event reached over 70,000 humans on social media. Like anything that Charlie pursues, this museum is about self love through the eyes of Black women. And I think anyone reading this page can agree, Black women have had an underrated role in history that is absolutely profound and long overdue to be acknowledged. We need to celebrate these women, their history and the incredible influence they have had in our world.

So what would these funds do? Create more exhibits. Charlie wants to hire other Black female artists to design exhibits and educate people through these gorgeous galleries. She wants to pay these women. Reimburse them for their supply and exhibit costs. These funds would help pay for advertising and the space. The amount raised would help the expenses for a Covid-Responsible opening night celebration or other experiences during the duration of the pop-up museum.

All of these examples and more will help achieve the greatest goal for The Museum For Black Girls; educate and celebrate the history of Black women! As many of us know, the lack of acknowledgement in our history books is astonishing. As I'm writing this, I believe so many humans will agree with me - the desire to learn more is great and necessary. Let's help Charlie take on this brilliant concept and make it happen.

I thank you for your time. I am truly amazed by what this woman has already accomplished on so little funds. Charlie and the museum deserve our support now more than ever. It's time for chapters in history books to be dedicated to these women and with the help of Charlie's concept, I believe that will happen.

Thank you,
Jess Rose
