The One Community One Museum Challenge
Unlike any other museum in Virginia, The Museum of African American Collectibles and History will be composed of original African American artifacts from the Jim Crow era. The Lewis Collection is privately owned and is one of the largest collections of its kind in Virginia. It contains over 1200 items that date back to the late 1800’s and tell the story of various moments in African American history that frankly were left to be untold. American history can not be told without African American history and a museum like this is greatly needed in Virginia.
To open the Museum of African American Collectibles and History, we need your financial support. The One Community One Museum Challenge will allow for this museum to open in 2022! Here is how it works: Once you give, you share this gofundme page and the link to the museum's website www.tmaach.com to as many people as you can. You then have them to match what you gave or to make it more challenging, have them to give more than what you gave. Once they have given their gift, they will repeat the process all over again and send it to people that they know. If we can get 500,000 people to give, then we will reach our GOAL and the museum will open in 2022!
We hope that every major city has a museum like The African American Museum of Collectibles and History to share the experience of Black history like no other. It is ideal that this museum will be located in Richmond, VA as a result of the rich African American history that the area has. This museum will bring people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicity together and will be the community hub for now and generations to come.
100% of your gift today will be used for the museums:
- cost of a lease and/or purchase of a building
- support community program and events that are free to the public
- daily operations of the museum
- preservation of exhibits
In order to open the museum in 2022, your gift is needed. Please go to www.tmaach.com for more information about the museum. Now is a time of change for all of us and here is an opportunity for you to do your part. The more that you share this page and challenge those that you know to give, the closer we will come to opening this museum. We can reach 500,000 people together. Let's make it happen!
