The Newport Kite Festival

The Newport Kite Festival started in 1986. Every year since has brought people from all over the country to enjoy a weekend full of the most amazing kites ever seen. The kites flown here are not your typical ones.  The sky is filled with dragons, astronauts, aliens, cartoon characters, and much more. Unfortunately in 2020, this event had to be cancelled. As a result, the skies have been empty ever since. The good news is, it’s coming back! On July 8th and 9th at Brenton Point State Park in Newport RI the atmosphere will once again be filled with awesome creatures and shapes.   The park will be full of happy families, and people from all over the country enjoying some of the best entertainment that Rhode Island has to offer. Kite vendors and volunteers will be on hand to assist, and kites will be available to tryout and purchase. The Newport Kite Festival is managed by one company, Kitt Kites. They have worked hard over the past 14 years to keep this event free for all to attend. However, the costs of organizing and hosting the festival have continued to rise, and Kitt Kites needs your help to ensure that the Newport Kite Festival can continue to be a free and accessible event for all. That's why we are launching this GoFundMe Campaign. By making a donation to the Newport Kite Festival, you will help us cover the costs of organizing and hosting this incredible event. Your donation will go towards permits, equipment rentals, bringing flyers in from around the country to put on a show, and provide promotional materials.
