In memory of USMC Marine Corp Veteran and Police Officer
EOW: March 29th, 2017
Fountain Valley Police Officer Richard George Nilos left us to be with our lord in his home on March 29th, 2017. He left behind his loving wife Becky and their three boy’s ages 12, 11 and 6.
He was an 11-year veteran of the Fountain Valley Police Department who received over 40 commendations - from Traffic Court referees, victims of crime and vehicle collisions. He was a member of the Department Color Guard, the West County SWAT Crisis Negotiation Team and the Department’s Peer Support Team.
Before law enforcement service he served in the United States Marine Corp and was one of the first Marines in Iraq back in 2003 as part of the First Marine Division. He and his family have made the ultimate sacrifice.
He was a devoted husband / son / father / uncle / brother and friend. Looking back, he was always a family man. He took all of the roles in his life to heart and he strove to honor, support, and guide and most importantly to protect his family. Rick was at his happiest when he was surrounded by his family - even during those inevitable tough times that life has a way of throwing at you. His devotion to his family was the foundation of his actions - the anchor that defined and shaped his life. He lived his life to the fullest and touched so many people during his time here with us, as evident by so many. He loved his family profoundly. He was remarkable in so many ways and will be dearly missed by so many.
Ways you can help is by donating on the Fountain Valley POA website, “In Loving Memory” tab on website or follow the below link or this gofundme page. All donations will go directly to his wife and boys.
Thank you!
