The Not The Christmas Toy Collection

Donation protected

Well this is a bit different - it’s not the usual annual toy collection where I ask my friends and colleagues to put an extra Christmas gift in their shopping trolley for the looked after and vulnerable children of Coventry but then the majority of this year hasn’t been ‘usual’ has it?

Sadly, there are still children and young people in care and, there are still those vulnerable ones that remain living at home with parents under the watchful eye of social care, that still face the season of goodwill without much to look forward to.

Due to the current risks of spreading the Coronavirus,  the Participation Team are unable to accept the usual gifts for distribution to these children and young people but those children and young people still deserve to receive a gift, especially this year.

So what I’m asking this year is for an unusual donation, large or small, via this go fund me page. As usual with other years, it doesn’t have to be big, any donation will be gratefully received and will go towards giving those children a gift at Christmas and putting a smile on their faces.

Once the collection closes, November 30th, all the donations will be transferred to the Participation Team, who will organise the purchase and distribution of gifts to children and young people in and leaving care and vulnerable children still living in the community via their Social and Family Workers.

Last year was a bumper year with over 600 + gifts and a donation of money which funded play stations and games for each of the Coventry Childrens Homes along with specific gifts for children living in those homes.

We all do such a good thing at Christmas collecting so many gifts and we should be proud of what we do, it is a shame that this year we can’t do the usual collection but we can be as generous as we usually are and take part.

There won’t be any parties this year for these children, so we won’t be able to see their faces when Father Christmas gives them a present but we know the smiles will still be there.

So thank you on behalf of those children and young people for your continued generosity and support of this years “Not the Christmas Toy Collection”.
