this is an update to thank all of you again for ur prayers and donations to Hydeia's family. As only God would have it, Hydi's sister, Bryana Broadbent Harris and her husband Davron Harris, were in Vegas to celebrate the birth of Bryana's grandson--Hydeia's nephew. they were already from home in Texas so Bryana was right there to handle all the business for their mother, Pat Broadbent. [pls continue to pray for Pat, a lung cancer survivor who still battles w/COPD.]. ur donations will be disbursed to the Harrises and this GFM will be officially closed.

The Celebration of her Life will be at Resurrection Catholic Church in Montgomery, Al, Fr Manuel Willians, Rector. Hydeia's mom wants us to SAY HYDEIA'S NAME on what would have been her 40th EARTHday. June 14, 2024. Warning: This is too long. But I am too full to edit. My name is claire and the Broadbents are family. We started Hydeia's foundation in 1993. Tonite, I want to paint a picture of the surreal. and tell the Truth about pain and grief. EVAN IS GONNA EDIT MY STORY for compliance to industry stds, and i'll eventually blog what he deletes. For now, please read; pray for Pat and Hydeia's family. My heart's not compliant...my my my

When the caller id displayed "Pat Broadbent. Las Vegas." i was on a long distance phone call. About business. But Big Mama's one mind kicked in.

"hang up. quick. don't let her go to voicemail!" And after two strained greetings came the words: "Hydeia passed away this morning."

Last fall, during the last week in September we were alerted that Hydeia was critically ill and had been in the hospital for weeks. Pat called and asked for prayer. Hydeia's organs were shutting down. she was in ICU. i blasted the prayer request on our UNblog, and family & friends prayed for Hydeia's health. and for God's Healing Light.

three days later, w/a heavy heart the morn of 9.29.2023, i started burning a candle. my pre-shiva candle. i needed my community. needed to consecrate/center my prayers w/the candlelight. a few days later i blew it out; glad that my one mind was wrong.

Hydeia made a turn for the better. over the months she progressed from ICU, to med surg floor to Ryan White Care Facility.

Pat said that Hydeia had breakfast as usual this morning at the medical facility in which she is currently getting physical and vocational rehab. After breakfast, Hydeia and a fellow patient sat outside for a while. They came inside; Hydeia went to her room to lie down. And sometime after that, Hydeia passed away.

Aware that Pat was barely talking, i also FELT her breathing... even more shallow than her one remaining post-cancer lung normally labored :(( i was in shock, so I dared to ask "Lord, Pat. What happened?" But it soon dawned on me that Pat literally did not know. Does not know. Will not know until after an autopsy. Whenever she is told more, i'll update this site.

After a good ole, long prayer --like we used to do when Hydeia was younger and always sick and not expected to live-- i asked Pat what could i do. Now. how do u speak those words to a grieving mother ? i, too, was lost; but knew i couldn't stay lost. Snap outta it, claire! Pat mentioned that Hydeia did not have life insurance or any savings to pay for medical bills and cremation. After 30 yrs, u know ur friends. So i asked Pat if she wanted/needed me to raise money. "Yes." I didn't want to push her, but i continued: "Do you want me to start a GO FUND ME? her answer, barely breathing was "Yes."

And here we are. I've started this GFM campaign, to take $$ off Pat's mind. Your donations will be held for Pat, in escrow, by GFM's agents.

While Pat and the family catch their breath.

Hydeia leaves a large family to mourn and to cherish her memory, including her mother, Patricia Broadbent. Father, Loren Broadbent. Sisters: Kecia, Kimmi, Trish and Shana. Brothers Kendall and Pepe. and a host of other relatives and friends.

i apologize for not listing everyone's names, eap Pat's grandchildren and Hydeia’s siblings' spouses/partners. but hey. this is the best i can do. i promise to keep you posted, but my first intention is to be healthy, Present and prayerful--for Pat's peace & comfort. which includes my commitment to set up this system so everyone won't have to call and bug them.

PLEASE RESPECT THE BROADBENT FAMILY'S PRIVACY. ALLOW THEM TO PROCESS THE EVENTS. LET THEM BREATHE. DON'T BUG THEM. PRAY FOR THEIR COMFORT. SAY HYDIEA'S NAME.

I AM GOING OUT ON A LIMB AND AM BEGGING U...DO NOT BE TALKING AND SPECULATING ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA. WHAT DID TUPAC SAY: "LISTEN TWICE. SPEAK ONCE." PLEASE, SISTERS AND BROTHERS OF ALL NATIONS AND ETHNICITIES, CLOSE UR MOUTHS AND PRAY. SO THE BROADBENTS CAN BREATHE.

I'll close by sharing comforting words from a dear family friend.

"She was, indeed, a Warrior Angel from the time of her birth. A beautiful Spirit on a mission she did not ask for and that no one deserves. Her voice was always loud and clear and she inspired and taught so many others. It's a sad day for us but a joyous one for the Heavens and for her. She's done her work and can rest now. ❤️❤️"
