The Okanagan Eatery Family

In the early hours on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, Vernon lost one of it's newest and favorite restaurants to a devastating fire. The Okanagan Eatery just celebrated its 2nd year of operation. Opening during the unprecedented times of the Covid-19 pandemic, a young new family poured their heart and soul into opening up what has been known as the "brunch spot of the Okanagan". Both have shared a passion for this industry for years and decided it was time to try it out for themselves.

Pairing local quality ingredients, with a unique, creative fun atmosphere, newlyweds, Chelsea & Dustin White and their 2-year-old son, Rowen, were living the entrepreneurship dream.

After every shift they were grateful for the business, celebrating many milestones with friends and family. Truly, some of the most genuine hard-working people I have ever met. They survived a worldwide pandemic, thriving in an industry with one of the lowest success rates. Their perseverance and talent helped them navigate through it all.

So in the early morning of Tuesday July 4th, I was awoken with the heartbreaking news, that some of my dearest friends lost an entire piece of their heart and identity. This small business was more than a restaurant, but a dream.

Insurance will help cover some costs but we all know it doesn't cover everything. This young family and employees will be out of work, and everything they have worked for is up in smoke. If you were ever lucky enough to be a customer, or maybe you weren't able to try yet, I am kindly asking if you have anything at all to donate, please do so. Everything will go straight to Chelsea, Dustin and Rowen.
