The Olympic Tree of Life Memorial

American non-profit (501c3) organization Assembly of the World of Diasporas (AWD), has taken initiative to establish in Chicago’s suburb of Wheeling the First US Memorial honoring 11 Israeli athletes murdered by Palestinian terrorist attack at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

The central part of the Olympic Tree of Life Monument is a universally recognized symbol of life among many peoples of the world, and its sculptural and architectural design in the form of geometric elements (voxels) connected in branches (living) and scattered under the tree (deceased) symbolizes centuries-old history of mankind, including both light and dark periods. On the surfaces of 11 elements located under the tree and differing in color, the names of Israeli athletes killed at the Munich Olympics are inscribed.

The Installation on the Olympic Tree of Life of stylized and recognizable replicas of the 13 Olympic relay torches (1972-2021), along with special openings to add new relay torches in subsequent years, i.e., from 2024 to 2072 and beyond, clearly, and permanently connects the Memorial with the Olympic values, the desire of people for tolerance, mutual respect, antiterrorism, and peace.

The sponsors of the Memorial, leaders and activists of public organizations and their relatives and descendants will participate in the local Olympic torch relay, held once every 4 years (in leap years) before each Summer Olympic Games, and the solemn installation of a new torch on the "Olympic Tree of Life".

Today we invite you to become participants of this People's Project. We ask you to provide financial support to the non-profit organization the Assembly of World Diasporas (501c3). The funds will be used to pay for the work of architects, designers, and engineers, as well as to cover other expenses directly related to this project.
