The Origins of Irish Travellers

Donation protected
It's unacceptable that our children feel lost and hopeless because their identity is misunderstood. If people don't truly know who we are, how can they be so certain about themselves?

So we are making a documentary about the origins of Irish Travellers. After nearly 30 years, I've come to realise that we know little about our true beginnings, and that the stories passed down through generations may hold more truth than we thought.
This is a tale thousands of years old, from a time before today's labels existed. By using science and other methods for the first time, we can uncover the identity of not just Irish Travellers but all people in Ireland.
I've teamed up with archaeologist Dylan Foley. We've talked to experts and community members, and now we want to make a film that shows the real story of Irish identity and history. This isn't about causing trouble, Ireland is already peaceful. This is about giving people peace of mind, and maybe even having a positive impact worldwide.
We need your help. It's been hard to get funding, and I've relied on crowdfunding to buy equipment. Now, I'm asking for help to buy a stabilizer for smooth filming.
This film is based on facts and science. It's told from an Irish Traveller perspective, but it's for everyone. It's about healing old wounds. We feel like we're the last of the old Irish clans, and for the last 100 years we've been kept down, not always on purpose, but through fear and unconscious bias.
We have the story, the science, and the community support. Now we need you. The top three donors will be credited in the film.
Bernard Sweeney, an Irish Traveller with 30 years experience, is leading this. He's a podcaster, speaker, writer, and editor. We believe this film will help people in Ireland understand their history and stop them from being taken advantage of by harmful ideas like racism.

Looking for €1500 to Purchase a Camera Stabilizer for Documentary Filming
One of my biggest challenges in creating high-quality outdoor recordings for my documentary has been the lack of a camera stabilizer. This essential piece of equipment ensures smooth, professional footage even when filming in challenging environments.

We're bringing together a range of experts, including community members, for a documentary that transcends the Traveller/settled divide. This story isn't about labels; it's about an ancient narrative, a clash of mentalities from the Gaelic Empire to Travellers and established institutions.

This documentary will mark a new beginning, building on decades of progress and struggle. We're seeking support to bring this crucial story to light.

I've researched the most suitable stabilizer for my needs, and the price comes to a little under €1300. Any additional funds raised beyond this target will be used to support other production costs for the documentary.

Your contribution will significantly improve the visual quality of the film, ensuring that the story of the Irish Travellers is told in the most compelling way possible. Thank you for your support!
