The Pagdilao family recovery from Lahaina fire

Donation protected
Aloha, my name is Keisha Pagdilao. I am one of the daughters of Carla and June Pagdilao. My twin sister, Tasha is a Maui firefighter and we are humbly asking for donations to help our parents recover from the horrific Lahaina wildfire on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 that caused tragedy and took our family home along with everything in it. Thankfully, both parents were able to escape the fire and evacuate to a safe shelter.

Lahaina has always been home. Our father, June was raised in the town and graduated from Lahainaluna High School. Both parents committed their lives serving local residents and visitors alike. They are very dedicated to the community, hosting events to give back and bring the community together.

Our parents have built their lives in Lahaina and are devastated along with the rest of the community after this horrific event. We are forever grateful that they are both alive and safe.

Funds will be directly transferred to my parents to use for shelter, essential items, clothing, and immediate needs necessary with rebuilding their lives.

Mahalo for any and all donations. They are very much appreciated. Welcome to share.

8/15 - Week 1 Update: Our parents have been safe, living out of a hotel in Kahului since the fire. Emotionally, they've been leaning on each other and several other displaced residents staying at the same hotel. With very limited to no access back to Lahaina, they have yet to return since the fire to see the destruction in person. As they anxiously wait to be reunited with friends and family, they even more so anxiously wait to hear if their unaccounted members in the community are found--which includes my dad's brother.

Thank you all. We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of love and generous donations. My parents understand this is not a sprint, but a marathon, and they'll be here to rebuild Lahaina.

Per NY Times, there are an estimated 2,700 structures destroyed, over $5.6 billion in damages, 1,300 people unaccounted for, 85% of the fire contained, and the death toll has reached 99 with 32% of the burned area search.

10/13/23- 2 month update

Today was a day of healing. We were able to re-enter our property and visited our beloved home. Upon arrival to our once lively neighborhood, our hearts sunk as tears flowed while seeing a street unrecognizable.

As a family we took some time to honor such a special place while we sifted through ash hoping to find Carla’s wedding and anniversary rings. During our time there, we got to visit with old neighbors, classmates, and made new friends with those who volunteered.

Mom and dad are looking forward to rebuilding a home on their property when they are able to do so. All funds will go directly to their their future home and living expenses.

We continue to be grateful for the over-pour of support through donations, love, & prayers. Each day that passes, we appreciate life more and more and those we love the most.
