The passing of Eric Rodriguez

On Wednesday August 3rd, we lost a dear member of our family Eric Rodriguez, to a terrible and unfortunate drowning accident. Eric went to PR with his wife Darlene to bury his father on August 2nd. On August 3rd they decided to go to the beach to reminiscence about his dad before they left. Eric went for a swim and to snorkel and tragically passed away from drowning. No lifeguards around and no one could help him. Darlene sat in disbelief as they pulled his lifeless body to shore and waited an hour for response team to arrive to collect his body.

Eric leaves behind his wife of 31 years Darlene, his son Eric 29, two daughters Damaris 20 and Desiree 18. As well as his granddaughter Mina 21 months, and daughter in law Elaine. He also leaves behind 3 sisters (EviLise Magali and Carmen) 2 brothers (Jose and Manuel and one brother who has also passed, Alex, who he will now be with) as well as a devastated mother. All who have loved him very much. He was also loved and leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, mother in law, sister in law, and many beloved friends.

While nothing can bring Eric back and the pain will last a lifetime for our family. They are in need of some help. Every bit counts. Right now she has to fly her children to PR for the services there. They also need to fly Eric’s body back to the states for his memorial service in the here where he will be cremated and laid to rest. Plus additional costs of airbnb, car rental and flights home for herself and two of her children. The financial burden is so overwhelming and I just want to help the family as much as possible. Eric was also half the provider for their first new home they bought just a couple years ago where Darlene lives with her two girls and their family dogs. Perhaps this can help with one less thing on their heavy plates.

El miércoles 3 de agosto, perdimos a un querido miembro de nuestra familia, Eric Rodríguez, por un terrible y desafortunado accidente de ahogamiento. Eric fue a Puerto Rico con su esposa Darlene para enterrar a su padre el 2 de agosto. El 3 de agosto decidieron ir a la playa para recordar a su padre antes de irse. Eric fue a nadar y a bucear y trágicamente falleció de ahogarse. No había socorristas y nadie podía ayudarle. Darlene se sentó incrédulo mientras tiraban de su cuerpo sin vida a la orilla y esperaban una hora a que llegara el equipo de respuesta para recoger su cuerpo.

Eric deja atrás a su esposa de 31 años Darlene, a su hijo Eric 29, dos hijas Damaris 20 y Desiree 18. Así como su nieta Mina de 21 meses, y su nuera Elaine. También deja atrás a 3 hermanas (EviLise Magali y Carmen), 2 hermanos (José y Manuel y un hermano que también ha fallecido, Alex, con quien ahora estará), así como una madre devastada. Todos los que lo han amado mucho. También era amado y deja atrás tías, tíos, primos, sobrinas, sobrinos, suegra, cuñada y muchos amigos queridos.

Aunque nada puede traer de vuelta a Eric y el dolor durará toda la vida para nuestra familia. Necesitan algo de ayuda. Cada centavo cuenta. Ahora mismo tiene que llevar a sus hijos a Puerto Rico para los servicios allí. También necesitan llevar el cuerpo de Eric de vuelta a los Estados Unidos para su servicio conmemorativo en el aquí, donde será incinerado y enterrado. Además de costes adicionales de airbnb, alquiler de coches y vuelos a casa para ella y dos de sus hijos. La carga financiera es muy abrumadora y solo quiero ayudar a la familia tanto como sea posible. Eric también fue la mitad del proveedor de su primer hogar nuevo que compraron hace solo un par de años, donde Darlene vive con sus dos hijas y sus perros de la familia. Tal vez esto pueda ayudar con una cosa menos en sus placas pesadas.
