The Patera Family

Hi, my name is Brandi Smith and I am fundraising for the Patera Family.

Brad and Jess are college sweethearts that met at Purdue University. They have two precious girls! Brad is a family man and everything he does is for them. Nick and I loved the time we lived near them in Indiana and developed a lifelong friendship. We feel led to help them during this time of uncertainty caused by a catastrophic accident that will put him out of work for an indefinite amount of time. 

 

Brad was found a few days ago unconscious in the road while he was out exercising in his neighborhood. Some neighbors found him,  called 911, and he was taken to the ER. He suffered a major head injury with skull fractures and brain bleeds.

 

For the foreseeable future, he will be in an inpatient rehabilitation center. At this time, we are unsure what the future holds for him but are praying that he will eventually return to a life of normalcy.

 

Brad and his family live off of only Brad’s income. Loss of income and expensive medical bills can devastate any family and I am fundraising to help with the exorbitant costs they are facing. I want to alleviate as much stress as possible so they can focus on Brad’s healing.

 

Brad is working on his mobility and regaining basic motor functions. He is starting to regain some memories but there is still a lot of memory loss. He does not remember the accident whatsoever and what happened is still a mystery.
