The Pember Elevator Fund

Tax deductible
After many years of deliberation and planning, The Pember Library and Museum of Natural History is ready to break ground with a much needed elevator that will make it possible for the elderly and persons with disabilities to visit the Museum. The project will also provide fire stairs for emergency egress and make the Pember building fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This is a milestone project that will make the Pember's resources and century old collections available to everyone and further the Pember's strength as a vital cultural anchor in the upstate region, bringing tourism and new possibilities for visitor experience.

The elevator and stairs will be housed in a new addition on the parking lot side of the building, replacing the existing ramp. The addition will be faced in marble matching the style, features and color of the original building. Construction will begin in July. The project may be viewed here:

We have raised 80 percent of project costs through grants and various sources of funding, but still need additional finances. We are asking for your help to complete this worthy project. Please donate whatever you can to help the Pember. Your contribution at this time is critical.

Thank you!
