THE PEOPLE OF MAKOKO IN LAGOS, NIGERIA.
Donation protected
Hi my name is Oluwa Blanco, I’m a TV personality and content creator, I recently visited Lagos, Nigeria and i absolutely love it. I enjoyed my short stay and got to see the real Africa that the internet does not show us. i work with a charity called "NOBODYS EXEMPT FROM BLESSINGS" and we will be going to Nigeria this year together.
Ill be going to a rural place in nigeria called MAKOKO
Makoko is one of Africa's most unique inner-city slums, with a third of the community built on stilts in a lagoon off the Lagos mainland – the famous Nigerian megacity populated by about 85,000 - 250,000 people.
Residents urinate directly into the water, which they paddle to and from their houses. The people lack essential basic social facilities, like schools, drinking water, inadequate liquid and solid waste management, there are endemic problems in makoko which are currently malaria, respiratory diseases and malnutrition. Conditions in this slum are challenging at best. The average life expectancy here is 47 years old. The water is full of household rubbish, including needles and human faeces. There is a suffocating smell of rotten fish hanging in the air.
My trip to West Africa inspired my vision to help as many children as possible. Many households and orphanages have underprivileged children who don't have the basic needs a child should have, like food, clothes, toiletries, school materials, skill acquisition, etc. These items we take for granted here in the United Kingdom and in other privileged countries. i want to desperately try and help them grow healthier, more robust and wiser. When I visited Nigeria, I didn't have the chance to go to various orphanage homes. This Is where i realized the unbelievably painful conditions in which many of these intelligent, beautiful, innocent children are trapped inside. After my visit, I decided to do more for these helpless kids who live in really bad condtions, in orphanages and on the streets of Africa. There’s very little being done for the ordinary person in some countries, so they can't adequately provide for their offspring, so imagine how difficult it is for those offspring to be without their parents. Of course, I can't change the world alone. Still, together we can make a massive difference by being a small part of those trying to free these less privileged children whose only crime was to be involuntarily born into poverty. Initially, I had no clue how many lived in these conditions. Watching the look on their faces because of The small number of goods or money i provided them has forever touched my heart, they showed so much gratitude which was heartwarming.
This is where I need every single help no matter how big or small it is However, I cannot go to Lagos, without help to help the people in need. I need to raise a total of £25,000 and I am believing in the good faith of God and Humanity that we will all provide. The funding goes to medical needs, books and everyday essentials like food provisions, sanitary pads, clean bottled water and so much more. I am asking that everyone comes together as one and let's help the less fortunate in Nigeria, as much as we like to go back home and do Detty December let's do what is right for a good cause. If you can not financially support me, I would love your prayers and well wishes and just a simple share of this Go fund me page. Pray that children in Nigeria would experience the blessings of God and the people that donated. Pray that villages are transformed through the eagerness of faith in these children. Pray that the Lord would help me steward my gifts to display His Glory.
