The Pereira Family place Grandpa to rest

Stephen M. Pereira, Sr., was an enigma, an avid cyclist, determined barber, creator of awkward conversations, and the most loving of fathers. Stephen is my brother in laws father, and you always saw him smile, telling a joke, and opening up the room with a flair and energy that was humorous, joyfully weird, and always positive. However, he also had many bouts with mental illness, and when he was not his happy-go-lucky self, he could fall into dark places of paranoia, fear, doubt, and disbelief. Throughout his various episodes and turmoils, I would see my brother-in-law there for him. Stephen Jr. loved his father as devoutly and passionately as anyone could. He was his father's friend, counselor, teacher, advisor, son, student, and confidant. This has been the most challenging week, one of the hardest of my brother in laws life. Unfortunately, his father succumbed to his mental illness. He departed this earth far too early, leaving Stephen with not only the heartbreaking loss but also an unexpected burden of honoring his father's last wishes. I'm creating this Go-fund me page with his permission and to help Stephen, Ana & Stevie provide grampee with a proper funeral despite the costs.
