The Perry Family, Loretta, Clyde and Ava

Please help local community members and Blackhawk Country Club employees Loretta and Clyde Perry. Clyde is battling liver cancer and was recently told he needs a full liver transplant.

Loretta is a certified and experienced massage therapist, and Clyde is a golf groundskeeper. Clyde and Loretta have been married for 23 years and have a 17-year-old daughter, Ava, a senior at San Ramon Valley High School.

Clyde had been to many doctors for over a year, and each had a different opinion on what was wrong with him. He had rashes, bloating, nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms. He kept getting the runaround and was not getting any better. Loretta, Clyde’s devoted wife and advocate knew it was more than what the doctors said. Finally, they found a doctor who took everything seriously. She zeroed in on Clyde’s liver, discovered a tumor, performed the biopsy, and found cancer. Clyde had part of his liver removed and began chemo treatments. After ten treatments, Clyde’s liver was still not responding well. The doctors say he needs a full liver transplant. Clyde is on the liver transplant list at UCSF; at this point, it’s a waiting game.

Clyde is on disability, and his healthcare is through the county. Loretta works six days a week to pay the bills. She has had to cut back on her working hours to care for Clyde at home and take him to between 5 and 7 medical appointments each month.

“Clyde Arthur Perry is the most kind, humble Teddy Bear.” He is a loving and supportive husband to Loretta. He is a unique and caring father. Clyde is always ready to help and support Loretta and anyone who needs him. Clyde is passionate about being outdoors and is at his best when fixing something, helping someone, or working outdoors.
