The Phillie Trilogy @ Fresh Fruit
Winner of Scrap Mettle Arts Playwrights Program Inaugural Competition, THE PHILLIE TRILOGY follows Philip (Phillie) McDougal from age 12 in 1972, to just on the cusp of 50, in 2009. Growing up gay in the “fabulous” 70s was no picnic for the precocious budding writer: through nuns, priests, bullying classmates, parents – and years later the realization his best friend may not be the person he thought she was – he lived to tell the tales, with results no one bargained for. Including him.
THE PHILLIE TRILOGY has been accepted into this year's Fresh Fruit Festival in New York, where it will receive its first fully-staged production after a series of workshops and readings. With one month to go until opening night (July 19!), we're $3,000 short of our fundraising goal. Any gift – large or small – you can give to help us meet that goal will be mostly appreciated. All gifts will be acknowledged in our program, and if one of you gives us the entire $3,000, you and guest will be invited to attend any performance during our run as our guest, and receive an autographed poster from this production.
