THE PICOS DE EUROPA VETERANS EXPEDITIONS 2024

Healthier heroes are wanting to take 10 veterans from Bancroft house away on an expedition in 2024 ran by challenge the wild, to The Picos de Europa ("Peaks of Europe", also the Picos) are a mountain range extending for about 20 km (12 mi), forming part of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain.

The range is situated in the Autonomous Communities of Asturias, Cantabria and Castile and León. The highest peak is Torre de Cerredo, at an elevation of 2650 m (8,690 ft).

The Picos offers some of the best hiking routes and outdoor activities in Europe. The event focuses on getting participants away from the stress of day-to-day life; using the great outdoors to provide a positive experience.

It will improve physical wellbeing, mental well-being, improve relationships, and develop life skills. Participants will take part in stunning hikes through gorges and to high peaks; will challenge themselves on scrambles, rock climbs and abseils; and will explore incredible waterfalls and caves.

They will also take part in mental fitness workshops, yoga and team games, whilst enjoying nutritious food, campfires and sleep close to nature!

All of which will be an amazing opportunity that they otherwise wouldn't be able to do without your support. This is going to be amazing for their recovery and mental health which is going to assist in setting them up to for moving out from Bancroft house.

Funds raised from all IBC shows will go directly to healthier heroes CIC, to help towards taking the veterans away on a trip of a life time as we feel they deserve this after serving for their country for so many years.

Healthier Heroes CIC provides support to ex-service personnel, their families and carers who are struggling with an array of complex requirements and support, as well as members of the NHS and other blue light services. The support offered to our service users includes housing, education, employment, tackling isolation and health and wellbeing.

Partnering with statutory and other third sector organisations we ensure our service users receive the support they need using a collaboration approach. From consultation through to delivery our service users drive us. We pride ourselves on co-designing all our delivery programmes in joint consultation with our beneficiaries
