This fundraiser is directly supporting three Women ran organizations that keep fresh organic food available and affordable in Los Angeles County:

•The Plant Plug™️ travels LA County teaching botany to all ages. As well as grows 1,000s of organic fruit and vegetable plants from seed each year. Showing the value in gardening education by means of sustainable urban farming practices.

•Project 43 is “365/ 7 day a week open” food pantry and community space. A space which provides educational workshops and food/ clothing. (Non-profit)

•Pacific Blue Organics facilitates free produce distribution, fills community fridges with fresh juice & provides the community with trees direct grown from seed. (Non profit 501c3)

UPDATE:
Our July 10th event was a major success! We gave away almost 100 plants. The Plant Plug™️ is delivering the remaining 200 plants to local gardeners, community projects and plant enthusiasts.

Message from Taylor Lindsey of The Plant Plug:

Hello,

I have made it my mission to eliminate food deserts in greatly underserved areas by making organic produce accessible to all LA residents. It is with dedication to this mission that I lead my team at the Plant Plug through botany education and garden development in your very own backyards, porches, and balconies.

•Now what is a food desert?
A food desert is a geographic area in which affordable and healthy food options are inaccessible for the residents of that area. Oftentimes, the nearest supermarket with fresh produce is too far to travel to without reliable transportation, leaving low-income families stranded. This is a disparity that affects communities across the country, and Los Angeles is no exception.

What can we do about it?

We are teaming up with Project 43 and Pacific Blue Organics to GIVE AWAY over 300 organic, locally grown plants, facilitate free produce giveaways & keep the doors of Project 43's food pantry OPEN.

We're looking to start as many organic start-up gardens while feeding as many families as possible; we have set a fundraising goal of $6,000. This is a fantastic way for you to directly contribute to developing underserved communities in Los Angeles and eliminating food deserts!

These plants will feed and empower our community by helping over 100 families start their own gardens in urban spaces and by providing produce for Project 43’s food pantries! All plants are grown organically from organic seed, right here in South LA. All remaining funds will help maintain operation of all three organizations. Keeping fresh food and organic gardening greatly accessible to ALL.

Peace & Blessings,

Taylor Lindsey
