The Play For Sai Scholarship Fund

Hi there everyone, this scholarship fund page is set up by two of Venkata Sai's close friends, Matthew Veerasammy & Jason Mejia. We have received the approval and permission from Sai's beloved parents to run and manage this Go Fund Me to embrace the legacy of our brother Venkata Sai Krishnamurthy.
Earlier this week, our community was heartbroken after hearing the tragic news of the passing of our amazing friend, Sai. For those who did not know him personally, Sai encompassed the definition of happiness. An individual who always had a smile on his face and always knew how to make others laugh. Sai was such a vibrant, vivid, and lively young man who was loved by so many. With his love for basketball, he has continued to inspire my friends and me to improve our game ethic every day. Throughout our high school experience, it has been a privilege and ultimate blessing from God to have Sai in our lives. Thus, it was important for our friend group and for his family to create a platform ensuring Sai's spirit will always live on in the Coral Springs/Parkland Community.
Our idea for commemorating Sai's life and commitments was in the form of a scholarship. We bring to you "The Play for Sai Scholarship", which will be an annual scholarship starting next school year for students in the Parkland/Coral Springs community who have shown excellence and a passion for the game of Basketball just like Sai did. This will be a college scholarship for seniors applying for college that will be a $3,000 award for the two recipients. The number 6 (#6) is symbolic of representing Sai's jersey number throughout his season in the Coral Springs rec basketball league so a total of $6,000 means the world with having two recipieients representing his status in 2 different rec leagues (Coral Springs & Parkland). We will have an application later in the year for this scholarship containing the necessary information and an essay exemplifying how respective candidates have showcased a dedication to Basketball. We want this scholarship not only to be open for those who admired basketball like the way Sai did but moreover to be accessible to those of low-income communities because giving back to that community was such a meaningful aspect of Sai's life.
Sai would have been attending Nova Southeastern University next year (NSU 26"), so we believe it is fitting to at least give back financially and academically to assist the opportunity of furthering someone else's education. We strongly believe this is an act of kindness and commemoration that Sai would be so proud to represent. Even though he may be physically gone, his spirit will continue to fill the hearts of us all because we know his memory will live on especially through this scholarship. We know he is watching down with that smile on his face.
In addition to the prayers and flowers, we ask that you all make an effort to honor Sai for his devotion to school and basketball. He was taken away too soon, but this scholarship will indeed cement who Sai really was, a friend, a brother, a son, a nephew, a basketball player, a student, a role model, and now an angel.
So we ask for any type of monetary support from the Parkland/Coral Springs community, MSD family, teachers, friends, staff, or those who want to continue the legacy of Sai. Our goal is $6,0000 as a basis for this upcoming years scholarship, in the future Sai's parents along with friends will be gathering funds to continue this legacy . Your contribution in whatever form will dearly be appreciated by the friends and family of Sai. So we please ask you to spread the word and contribute as much as you wish to remember Sai through The Play For Sai Scholarship Fund.
Thank you so much once again.
"We love you Sai and miss you so much. May this scholarship continue your works here on Earth. We know you are ballin in God's kingdom, fly high brother! Until we meet again, rest in paradise" #playforSai #6 #dripnamurthy
