The Police Empathy Academy is a nationwide organization ran by social activists and educators with the intent of serving both individual police officers, police academies, and police departments to provide them the tools of social and emotional learning.
We are on a mission to make sure that police departments begin incorporating empathy as part of their education and training.
As a police officer, getting P.E.A.C.E Certified tells your local community that you are committed to social justice and are actively continuing your police education to include empathy training.
"This is exactly what we need during these trying times to repair the relationship between police departments and the public."
Our training is created by a diverse group of social activists, police officers, and expert social and emotional learning (SEL) facilitators.
P.E.A.C.E Training was created due to the large gap that exists between many police departments and their communities. We can either demonize the other side or take proactive steps to create change and bridge the gap.
Most of us never received this level of mental and emotional training growing up and it's even more critical for people who hold a position of power. It's been proven that Social and Emotional Learning improves the social environment of schools that implement these programs, and we strongly believe the same is true for police departments that choose to do the same.
By making a donation, you are helping our organization grow and reach more police departments.
Our goal is for Empathy Training to eventually be a Requirement by Law to becoming a Police Officer. Our training not only keeps the public safer but also vastly improves the mental health and overall life satisfaction of police officers.
If you're witnessing the current events (regardless of what side you're on), and you feel lost on what to do, we hope that you join our movement in creating a more peaceful world.
