Don't Kill The President: A Satire

Don't Kill The President:A Satire, is the culmination of thirty years of rape recovery advocacy and personal healing work, combining with almost twenty years experience as a female stand-up comic and writer, in response to the dumpster fire of a political situation we are experiencing in the U.S.
It's the women's issues that I primarily focus on, with the point of view of a former sex worker who now is a feminist performance artist. I have worked my whole life listening to people's nightmares and telling them it will be okay. And the systematic decriminalization of the rape laws and abortion rights happening terrify me. And how can I tell my daughter or her friends it will be okay now?
So I fight back the only way I know how, by being a serious Bitch:). And I write jokes about it. And those jokes have come out REALLY rough. Too rough and strong for the clubs. So I need small theaters with like 50 to 200 seats. Because I need the audiences informed consent as to what they are going into. And then I will have a marketable piece of work I can sell in different cities and I have backers for that stage in place. And eventually, would like to submit to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but I digress...
But first, I need to workshop the new comedy show in a small theater and I write dick jokes for a living so I need to crowd fund for five thousand dollars to cover theater rental, a few production dudes, and a few ads in the local Seattle art rags. The theater I did my prior one woman show in works well for me, in Capitol Hill in Seattle... It seats sixty. It works in a gritty budget. They have wine and you will want that at intermission I think.
I am really excited about the writing and it is so much lighter than my last show and yet there is a good chunk of Stockholm Syndrome in Don't Kill The President:A Satire... And I hope to be able to present it to you mid May 2017.
Below is my work bio and a sample of some past standup so you can understand when I say it will be an honest communication of my feelings towards our new Leader in comedic form...My new website is being constructed.
Thank you for your consideration.
Beka Barry is a comedy force of nature. Black clad, with an attitude to match, Beka drags a laughing audience through the turmoils and lessons of parenting in a lightening-speed world.
Uncompromising and unapologetic, Barry weaves a tale of being raised by felons, poorly.
Learning to parent, painfully, in spite of the Dewar's-infused lessons taught within some of America's finest trailer parks and Howard Johnson's lounges; seasoned parents will connect with every word, while new parents and those 'child-free' adults will get scared and cry. Honestly, that is kind of funny too.
Not for the faint of heart, Beka leaves no punches pulled and no word unspoken. As Shecky Magazine once said, "The Dirtiest Mom in America is well worth the price of a babysitter!". Go see Beka Barry. Live life with no regrets. Laugh at stuff
