The POST Project

Donation protected
My name is Janum, and I am a high school student in New Jersey. For the last five years, I have competed on robotics teams - and I was fortunate to have that opportunity. Students and parents outside my district approached me about 4 months ago and asked where they could compete on a robotics team. I was shocked to find out that they did not have a team in their area. As I explored the issue more, I found that an overwhelming number of students did not have access to activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

I've founded a service organization called The POST Project (Providing Opportunities in Science and Technology - http://propost.weebly.com/)
. My organization is aimed at teaching computer science, software development, and mechanical design to underprivilaged students, special education students, and students who do not have access to STEM programs. I have been using Raspberry Pis, which are inexpensive minicomputers that are built to teach programming. These Raspberry Pis vary from $5.00-$40.00, depending on the model. I need to rasie money so that I can purchase more raspberry pis and expand my project to help more students.

Recently, I partnered with a non-profit organization called Children In Pain (CHIP - http://www.chipmumbai.org/) based in Mumbai, India. CHIP provides education to the slum children of Mumbai. This summer (2017) I will be travelling there to work with over 100 students with Raspberry Pis. The teachers that volunteer with CHIP will be able to integrate the Raspberry Pis into their classrooms for regular use. In addition to Raspberry Pis, I also need to raise money for basic monitors, keyboards, mice, etc.

I am also partnered with the Pragya Educational and Charitable Trust (PECT - http://www.pect.in/) in Gujurat, India.  PECT runs an orphanage school for slum children in Rajkot. I will be travelling to their school to expose the students there to STEM principles, including robotics, computer science, aeronautics, etc.

ALL donations will ONLY be used towards the POST Project. If you donate, I will personally send you a detailed graphic of how and where your entire donation was used. Any and all contributions are extremely valued, and I, along with all the students I work with, would be grateful for your help. Thank you.
