The Preservatory suicide awareness and prevention

I'm Julie Koontz, and I'm honored to lead an incredible team at The Preservatory. We are on a mission to raise awareness and prevent suicide within urban communities. We believe in the transformative power of Hip Hop culture to cultivate self-love and survival skills, providing a unique, artistic avenue for mental health support.

At The Preservatory, we value diversity and inclusivity, and foster a nurturing environment where everyone can grow. Our programs are tailored to our community, incorporating elements of Hip Hop culture, such as dance, music, art, and spoken word. These elements are combined with services like counseling, therapy, support groups, and workshops. All in a safe space where individuals can express themselves, connect, heal, and thrive.

Our team is passionate and committed, having been personally touched by depression and suicide. We use our professional expertise and personal experiences to ensure The Preservatory remains a beacon of hope and support in our community.

Despite our passion and dedication, there are practical costs to starting a nonprofit. We are seeking your support to help us cover these expenses. We are currently in the process of securing our 501(c)(3) status, which will allow us to receive grant funds and public support necessary for securing a permanent community space. Additionally, your donations will help us:
