The Pritchard Family Needs Your Help

We are starting this fundraiser to help raise money for our long-time co-worker Ron Pritchard's Family in a time of great need. Ron & Linda Pritchard's 29-year-old son Ian Pritchard is facing a major medical crisis with a critical lung condition. Ian has been hospitalized almost 5 weeks now; he was admitted initially to the hospital in Petoskey, MI the week before Thanksgiving. Ian's condition quickly deteriorated so he was transported to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit a couple weeks ago where they were able to determine Ian has a rare fungal infection of his lungs. He has been in a medically induced coma on life support and ECMO machine since arriving at Henry Ford. The doctors have found a medication to treat his fungal infection, but it is a very slow process. The fungus has basically eaten large holes in Ian's lungs, as his father described it. The ECMO machine is helping to keep the lungs from having to work too hard while they heal up. The family and doctors are hopeful that the lung infection will be eradicated so that then Ian will be eligible for lung transplants. (They cannot do a transplant until the fungal infection is gone.) Ian is in very critical condition, but his youth and otherwise good health are in his favor. Please send all of your prayers and healing vibes his way.

Ian's parents, Ron & Linda are traveling back and forth from their home in Boyne City, MI to Detroit multiple times per week to be with their son and confer with the medical team. The cost of the 250+ mile one way trip, plus food and lodging in Detroit are adding up quickly. Part of this fundraiser money will be utilized by Ron & Linda for their travel expenses to be with their son while he is hospitalized. We are also hoping to garner enough support to have money to help with all of the medical bills Ian is incurring during these many weeks of hospitalization (with more to come). He has very basic insurance, so a huge amount will be his responsibility.

Ian's father Ron Pritchard is a well-known radio DJ with Midwestern Broadcasting Company in Traverse City, Michigan. He currently is on the air with WCCW-FM and KLT The Rock Station, and also was the morning show host on Z93 for many years previously. Throughout his many decades of working in radio, Ron has been a champion for many Northern Michigan charities and fundraisers... using his voice and platform on the air to raise awareness of countless causes for our area. We hope that Northern Michigan, and all who have the means or desire, can step up and donate even a few dollars to The Pritchard Family at this time, to return the favor, so to speak. $5... $10... $20... whatever you can give... it all adds up.
