The Queer Black Musicians Fund
Donation protected
Hello, I’m Evil. I’m a Black non-binary musician. Music means everything to me, it is the reason I wake up, it’s my life. I am an independent artist, and in the past, I have encountered many obstacles in trying to make my music. Through my experiences, I began to recognize the struggle of other Black independent LGBTQ+ artists not being able to do the one thing that makes them feel whole due to lack of funding and support. I am starting the Queer Black Musicians Fund in an effort to support my community in trying times. Due to COVID-19, lack of work, and just lack of support in general, it is hard to find the money for creating music now more than ever. No one should have to choose between survival and investing in themselves and what fulfills them. It has always been a personal mission of mine to make it easier for Black people in the LGBTQ+ community to make music. My goal is to lessen those obstacles for others and I am trying to do that in the best way I can with this fund. 500 dollars will be given directly to 10 Black queer musicians to use toward their musical endeavors. Instruments, equipment, studio time-whatever they may need. It is important to me to support Black LGBTQ+ people in their quest to make art, to support them in their dreams today not tomorrow. Today, this is how I’m doing it and I hope you will find a way to support Black lives in real-time too.
