The "tail" of a dog named Lucky

Hi, my name is Lucky. I know by looking at me, you wouldn't call me Lucky, but I'm actually very lucky. Last Friday I was living at these people's house. I don't know much about the English language but I've heard my new mom and dad call them JERKS! So I'll call them that. I was staying with the jerks in a concrete cage outside and I started to get sick. I don't know why I was getting sick or why the jerks didn't help me. And the sicker I got the less they took care of me. I have a rare strain of mange that is caused by a bacterial infection. Maybe the jerks couldn't afford to take me to the vet, I don't know?? But then they just stopped feeding me or giving me water.  I don't know much about human time but it was probably at least what the doctor called a month or two since I had any food at all. I was so hungry!! A dog like me should weigh about 40 pounds and I was 16 pounds!! You could see my ribs and every bone in my back and hips! Because I had no food or water my mange got really bad and I was starting to get open wounds all over my body and my feet started to rot off. My toenails started dying and falling off. With the condition I was in I really needed help. But that's not what the jerks decided to do. I was in so much pain I would have been happy to just be put down. Or give me away. Something!!  But I guess there isn't much interest in a very sick dog that is rotting. So the jerks took me out to the desert and dumped me. Pulled over, threw me out of the car and drove away. I've never lived on the Mesa before. I didn't know what to do. I was so sick and hurt so bad I couldn't run away from coyote's or bobcats. So I just decided to sit next to the road and wait to die. Then all of a sudden a big guy in a big truck came by and made eye contact with me. The next thing I know this guy threw a blanket over me and told me to hold on, and took off to the hospital. I didn't know what was happening. But then this guy calls a nice lady and another nice lady. These two ladies came to the hospital with us. The one I call mom now just grabbed me in her arms and away we went. We got to the hospital and lots of people were running in and out of the room trying to help me. They gave me food and water to see if I had enough strength to eat on my own. I was SO HUNGRY AND THIRSTY!!!! I ate everything that they gave me!! Then they gave me some water and I drank a whole 20 oz bottle of water without stopping once. It felt good to have someone care about me. They gave me so much needed medicine. They asked who was going to take care of me and that guy and lady said they would. So right there I got a mommy and a daddy and a lady they called nana. I don't know what that means but they were all so nice to me. Everyone at the hospital was happy that these people found me, and I was too. They took me to a new home where I have my very own room with a super soft bed and my own heaters to keep me nice and toasty. They give me food and medicine 5 times a day. I have to get baths every 2-3 days because my whole body was covered with open sores. I'm not much of a fan of baths, but their helping me get better. They hurt so bad I cry every time my dad picks me up. I heard I have 3 new sisters but I have to stay in my room for 2 weeks because the doctor says I could male my new sisters sick. Also my mommy and daddy have to use gloves and gowns to touch me because I could make them sick as well. But these new people love me a lot and I've never had that before. So that's why I'm asking for some help... My hospital bill was expensive and I have to go back at least 4 or 5 times more. They had to pay for all my meds and very expensive new food. I have to have heaters on all the time to keep me warm. So if you could help me help my mom and dad, I would really appreciate it! My dad is even starting an non-profit 501-C3 charity named after me, called "Lucky's House". Anything we raise beyond my vet bills and meds will go to my charity to help other puppies and kitty's. Thank you for reading my story, and I will keep everyone updated on my condition. With all this food and water and love and warmth and shelter I'm going to fight hard to make it back. Keep checking in and sending me your good vibes!!

Love,
~Lucky~
