The Rainbow STEM Alliance

Tax deductible
Thank you for considering a donation to The Rainbow STEM Alliance! The RSA was founded in the summer of 2018 to support the LGBTQ+ of FIRST student group, as well as other LGBTQ+ K-12 STEM focused groups/initiatives. While we have not currently expanded beyond our support of the LGBTQ+ of FIRST, we hopefully will be able to do so soon.

Over the past 3 years, our group (at first solely our Co-Founder and President, Jon Kentfield) and last year with our non-profit, have been gathering donations, and providing support for the LGBTQ+ of FIRST lapel pins. To date almost 10,000 pins have been produced and distributed, as well as over 1500 pronoun ribbons, and other documentation and resources.

This year, we are looking to produce another 5,000 LGBTQ+ of FIRST lapel pins, as well as a pronoun pin, to allow for a longer lasting effect. We feel that while the pronoun ribbons at the FIRST championships have been a huge hit, we want to be able to provide something that a person can have and wear at many events, even if they do not have a name badge at that event.

We are also looking to create a scholarship or two this year for FIRST students, and intended to provide an opportunity for LGBTQ+ students, and their allies, pursuing STEM education. While this scholarship opportunity will start small, we hope to be able to expand it greatly in the future.

Over the past year our group has gone from relying solely on Go Fund Me fundraisers, to having corporate donors, and receiving a grant from The LOVELOUD Foundation .

While having these other groups supporting us is a huge weight lifted off our shoulders, we still cannot do the work we do without grassroots fundraising efforts like this. That is why, once again, we are hosting a Go Fund Me fundraiser. We are hoping to receive an additional $4,500 to help support our cause, and allow us to produce more LGBTQ+ of FIRST pins, the first production run of the pronoun pins, and our scholarships. We cannot do all of this without your help!

Thank you,
