The Ramage family's med bills post brain surgery

**Update 2/5/24: Just hours before Jessica was set to be discharged following her recovery from a double aneurysm, she was readmitted to the ICU with an infection in her blood: cerebral meningitis.
She was intubated, medically paralyzed, and sedated in order to slow her body down and reduce her output in order to better with the infection which was finally identified by the Infectious Disease team.
Working with the neuroscience team, they eventually identified the bacteria and developed a plan of treatment that kept Jessica in the ICU for close to 10 days. A permanent shunt was placed into her skull to help drain excess fluid that Jessica's brain cannot reabsorb.
After another week in a "step down" room, Jessica has been transferred to Southwest General Hospital's Acute Rehabilitation Center to assist in her recovery.

**Update 1/11/24: Jess continues the road to recovery, but has been in the hospital this entire time. There have been times she has been close to being on the path to be being released, but has had several setbacks that have kept her in the ICU. Her medical bills continue to mount while the Ramage girls are without their mother and Doug is without his wife.**

Late Friday, December 22, 2023, dedicated mother, teacher, and community member Jessica (Kramer) Ramage was rushed to Southwest General Hospital, then to University Hospital. After an exhaustive search, it was determined that she had an aneurysm at the base of her brain.

Jessica endured a drainage in the top of her head as well as a risky and complicated surgery on December 23rd. The doctors even said they "earned their paycheck" with what they had to do to save Jessica, eventually calling her their "Christmas Miracle."

Jessica is currently recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital with a long road ahead of her to recover. She will be in the ICU for a minimum of three weeks, with a long rehabilitation in her future. This rehabilitation will keep her out of her job as a fourth-year teacher at Liberty Elementary in the North Ridgeville City Schools; a job that does not offer any form of compensation once her accumulated sick days run out.

Jessica's husband, Douglas, also a teacher, has been carrying the burden of being by Jessica's side while also raising three daughters: Lyla (14), Charlotte (12), and Penelope (5).

The medical bills are accumulating by the day. With the income coming to an end soon, this will prove to be a very challenging time for the Ramage family. That is why we started this GoFundMe: as a way to help them in their time of need.

Jessica is a Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School graduate, Bay Arts teacher, North Ridgeville City Schools elementary school teacher (Liberty Elementary), and Strongsville resident.
