Our hearts are broken…

Elva was born on November 9th 1948 born in Guadalajara Tlaquepaque. She left her home to start a new journey in Long Beach after becoming a widow to Alfonso (first husband). Salvador Sr. and Elva worked very hard at swap meets in order to take care of their 6 children who she is survived by today. Oscar, Cesar, Monica, Isabel, Catalina, Salvador Jr and many grandchildren that loved her. We will forever be left with her best memories and flamboyant attitude.

Doña Elva left for the hospital over a month ago. She had been suffering from heart failure for many years, but we didn’t realize that things would take a turn for the worse so quickly. After being admitted she ended in the ICU after becoming septic from an infection. Our dear mama soon became confused and increasingly anxious.

She stopped eating and sleeping and simply wanted to come home. A day after being released under hospice care her children received an earth shattering call that they will never forget. We were told she only had 24 to 48hrs to live and that we should arrange for everyone to say good bye.

Even though she’s battled pass 48hrs, her health continues to decrease and we’re at a point were we want her to be comfortable with no pain. We have all come to a realization that we will have to let her go.

Doña Elva was full of life and beloved by her husband, 6 kids (Isabel, Oscar, Cesar, Catalina, Sal and Monica) and grandchildren

Now every time that I hear the CHONA song her image of her dancing comes to mind. Every time that I go to the swap meet I won’t see her work stand anymore.

We are asking for donations to cover the costs associated with her service and burial so Doña Elva’s family can grieve without the added stress of an additional financial burden.
