The renovation of outdoor benches at ZUMC
Donation protected
Hi my name is Ben Shuster. I am 17 years old and I am working on my Eagle Scout Service Project. Zionsville United Methodist Church ("ZUMC") means a lot to me as throughout my life I have gone to ZUMC for as long as I can remember. I went to ROCK (the before and after school care) at ZUMC, years of Vacation Bible School at ZUMC, and I've consistently attended service here. For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I would like to renovate the benches outside under the pavilion. From afar the benches might look fine but in reality they need to be replaced and repaired. The wood on the benches is warped and it is very easy for someone to get splinters if they sit on the wood benches. You might ask why would these need to be renovated as I don't see anyone using them? They get used almost every single day by ROCK and Vacation Bible School. Both groups sit on them every day to eat their snack and to play on them. Additionally, other ZUMC groups use these benches as well. I plan to remove the old, splintered wood from 33 benches. Then install and attach new wood slats on the benches. I will need 300 2x4s that are 6ft long and corresponding fasteners to attach the 2x4s to 33 benches.
