The Re-Psych Project: Developing for the future

Donation protected

We are the Re-Psych Project Community Interest Company (CIC), a performance and art-based, environmental and social awareness program.

Working with refugee communities throughout Europe and events or educational centers in the UK, We use music, food and scrap crafting to promote equality and sustainability. Thanks to our previous Gofundme and fundraising campaign in 2019, we brought our project all the way through Northern and Eastern Europe to the Greek islands, the frontline of  Europe's Refugee crisis. We delivered hundreds of donated instruments along the way and held workshops at community centres, schools and aid stations, documenting what we learned and experienced each day. We intend to complete a video, telling the stories not only of the communities we worked with, but also the aid workers who give their lives to help those in need.

We have been described at events in the past as an interactive 'Stomp'. We teach how to build and play homemade musical instruments and create rehearsed orchestral ensembles using live performance technology. We also teach a wide variety of crafting techniques working together to design brand new ideas, fusing cultural styles from all around the world.

Within our team are professional live loop musicians, beatboxer's, expert craft artists and fully qualified teachers. We combine our skills and knowledge to provide workshops for groups of all ages and backgrounds, telling a different story every time.

Our plan now is to expand from our event and overseas work and create eight curriculum standard units. These will be delivered at community centers and schools across the UK. These units will help to build a connection to other cultures, especially those from modern day conflict zones and promote compassionate thinking, not only towards each other but the environment as well. More details on the expenses required for the research and development of the course can be found below. We also intend to throw our own fundraiser events to promote our project and help reach our target to begin writing on the 1st November 2021.

We will be creating these units with the help of refugee communities in the UK, holding multicultural and multi-generational events to share musical and food experiences, forming new community friendships.

Working alongside other NGO's or charities including AidBox, Bristol City of Sanctuary and SEND project in Nottingham, we intend to have the course ready for delivery by January 2022.
