Emergency Aid Pine Island Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
Hi, we are Gary and Denise, 1st-year residents of Bokeelia, Florida. We are raising funds to help this once beautiful old fishing village try to get back what was destroyed and taken away by Hurricane Ian. Ian directly hit our island, and many homes and businesses have been completely decimated. Search and rescue efforts are still underway; sadly, lives have been lost.
The Island's infrastructure has been demolished. There is no electricity, water, sewer, stores or food. On top of this, the only bridge to access the island has been destroyed, making it very challenging to get supplies to the survivors. The only way to get food and fuel over is by boat.
Sadly, despite Pine Island being directly hit by Ian as it made landfall, the media and recovery efforts are focused more on the famous Florida Islands of Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach. Meanwhile, Pine Island residents are in desperate need of help. Many of the residents of Pine Island towns of Matlacha and St James City lived in trailer homes that have been reduced to rubble. They are being told that the government will be walking away from the island and that it is no longer sustainable; the residents of Pine Island do not want to leave their homes and risk losing everything. It is clear that to rise from this tragedy; we will have to join arms and help the less fortunate to rebuild and come back stronger!
The residents of this Island are amazing and are helping each other as I have never seen before.
Please donate what you can; any amount is appreciated and will be directly utilized to purchase and deliver necessities directly to Pine Island residents, including the following:
Cleaning supplies
Gloves
Diapers
Personal Hygiene Products
Food
Water
On behalf of the residents of Pine Island - thank you, we can't do this without you!
