The Return of Oakhurst Porchfest
The COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on the Oakhurst Porchfest, preventing the event in 2020 and cancelling the Oakhurst Wine Crawl that's historically provided the bulk of our funding.
If we're to return in 2021 to once again produce a free and inclusive day of ubiquitous music and radical generosity, we'll need the Porchfest Nation to help us do it.
Money raised goes to the Decatur Arts Alliance, our organizing partner and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so your gift is fully tax deductible.
As a grassroots, community-managed event powered by nearly a thousand volunteers (including me and my fellow organizers), it's easy to assume we have no expenses. But indeed we do, some of which—like police and porta-johns—can be quite substantial.
Your generous gift will be applied to:
Police; porta-johns; city sanitation fees; program design and printing; signage and promotional posters; Block Captain supplies; illustration; insurance; and more
Any unused funds will be rolled over to the following year, ensuring the viability of our event for years to come.
This is not the path we would have chosen, given the choice, but we do like the idea of Porchfest's many supporters demonstrating their love of the event—and their commitment to community—when circumstances demand it.
We hope you feel the same and we look forward to making the Oakhurst Porchfest rise again in 2021.
