The Rice Family- Stage 4 Breast Cancer In Bones
Donation protected
To know Kim Rice is to love her. Kim is a retired school teacher from Winona Elementary in Winona, Mississippi. She taught for 28 years and retired in 2021, and because Kim is such a hard worker, she just couldn't sit still, and has been actively working with Millenium Consulting out of Houston Texas until the current date(she had to take a leave of absence during this time). Kim is and always has been a giver and an active faithful member of the community in her backyard as well as abroad in the world and the USA. If there is a need, Kim is the first to give of her time, talents and resources to help meet the tangible needs of others. Her desire in helping others is stemmed from a heart of love, and hope that through her actions people will see Jesus and grow to know Him in their own personal walk. She lives out loud, QUIETLY in the background of SO MANY PEOPLES LIVES. There are truly no words to accurately describe her, but in my humble attempt, I would say: ANGEL ON EARTH, loaned to us from heaven above.
Kim is married to Mike Rice, and has 2 boys, Josh Rice, and Jason Rice, and a daughter Kaylee Rice, a daughter-in-law Kathleen and a grandson Cooper. Kim's FAVORITE thing to do is ride her horse, Teddy Bear.
On April 27, 2023, Kim went in for a routine mammogram. The results of that mammogram were Breast Cancer, an INSTANT Double mastectomy, genetics testing, and reconstructive surgery. While healing from the mastectomy, she felt in her spirit that something just was not right, and she asked that the Dr perform a full Pet-Scan of her body.
On June 7, Kim had surgery for chemo port placement, for what she thought was just a prevention plan.
On June 19, 2023, she went in for a Pet-Scan and Bone Biopsy. The results that she received from those tests left us all speechless, to say the least. She found out that the breast cancer spread to her bones. Her right femur has a 1 cm tumor, her right pelvic bone has a 3 cm tumor on it, and her L1 vertebra is pretty much all tumor.
Kim will begin radiation immediately, and chemo will begin on June 29, 2023. She will do 1 Chemo treatment every 3 weeks, a total of 4 treatments. She will also receive bone-strengthening shots, hormone-blocking pills, morphine iv for back pain (which has been severe), and radiation for shrinking the tumors.
Kim is in great spirits currently and was very reluctant about us setting up this go fund me, but we are insistent that it be done. We know and understand that this road she is about to endure is not what she had planned, but we TRUST that God is the author of the story and He knows exactly what He is doing. EVEN IF our hearts are broken, shattered, and we do not understand. We KNOW that He works ALL things for good for those who love the Lord and are called for His purpose, and we can ASSURE you Kim Rice LOVES the Lord with ALL her heart, mind, and soul. It is evident in her life and even more evident in the peace that passes all understanding that God is giving her through this process we call life.
***The funds raised from this fundraiser will be used toward all medical expenses, medication expenses, and any travel expenses that she might incur.
Kim wanted me to make sure I let you know that any monies that she did not need or use from this go fund me will be donated to:
**God's House Of Hope-God's House of Hope exists to help broken people know God, find freedom, discover their purpose and make a difference for God's Glory. We believe that God has placed our Home in the path of so many that have lost their way and need help to refocus their lives in a positive atmosphere that points them to the love of God. We are looking to embrace love, grace and mercy. We want to share it with everyone we come in contact with. We want to battle addictions by creating a new one. We want to have you so addicted to Christ that you will never turn back to the old ways of life. We want to teach you what God wants you to know, rather than being a place where people far from God are met with shame, guilt and condemnation. Jesus leads us to be a family that extends His grace, mercy and forgiveness to everyone. No matter what you have been through or what questions you might have, we want you to be a part of the family!
This organization is to be non-profit, supported by God, through the people as He works individually in their hearts, primarily purposed in proclaiming Jesus to whom be all the Glory and Honor.
**Southern Cotton Belle's- A 501c3 nonprofit for Mississippi Delta communities to financially assist women with breast cancer. The assistance includes paying for gas to get patients to and from their treatments. They also assist in helping the patients pay for their wigs and mastectomy supplies.
Thank You In Advance for choosing to give financially to help this family, but MOST IMPORTANTLY for choosing to stand in the gap and lift this family up during these difficult times that are ahead. We sincerely appreciate every one of you.
Sincerely,
Team Rice Family
