Rebuild Our Horse and Animal Stable: Support Needed After Devastating Tasmanian Winds
Hello friends, family, and animal lovers everywhere,
We’re reaching out after a heart-wrenching loss. Our beloved stable was completely destroyed by the fierce "Roaring Forties" winds that recently swept through Tasmania. It is not covered by insurance because it is not the main garage structure. This powerful storm took away the shelter our horse and goats depend on to escape the elements. Now, we face the daunting task of rebuilding from the ground up.
Without this stable, our animals are vulnerable
How Your Help Can Make a Difference:
* Building a Stronger, Safer Stable: We are creating a wind- and rain-resistant shelter to better protect our animals from future storms and the harsh weather typical of our region. While we plan to reuse materials from the original stable whenever possible, we will also need to purchase some new supplies for the reconstruction.
* Restoring and Upgrading Fencing and Paddocks: Creating secure grazing spaces with durable, dog-proof fencing around and within our 6.7-acre property. We envision galvanised fencing that can withstand the coastal elements near Bass Strait and protect our animals from roaming dogs. Sadly, a recent attack in the area left a local goat fatally injured, underscoring the need for stronger protection. Upgrading from our previous three-strand electric fence, this fencing will keep our animals safe—keeping dogs out and our animals secure.
Your contribution, whether large or small, will make a lasting impact on our journey to rebuild. Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing our story with others who may be able to help would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us bring this space back to life and rescue our horse and goats to provide the secure, loving home they deserve.
With deep gratitude,
Lee

Costing for the dog mesh is $456 for a 100m roll. The galvanised fence posts are $12 each. We calculated we will need 10 rolls of wire for the entire acreage, including fences for paddocks within the perimeter boundaries. The number of fenceposts is just an estimate at this time but we think we will need 100 galvanised fenceposts and wooden fenceposts too. We are planning to commence with the fencing first and then rebuild the stable once the fencing is in place to provide a safe haven for the animals.
The stable is still in the planning stage.
