The rocky path to the top..

Hello, I’m Lara Ok, 19 years old and a professional golfer since 2023. My love for golf began when I was just 6, and despite some challenges along the way, I’ve never lost my passion for the game.

At 14, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and advised to stop playing. But instead of giving up, I fought through it—wearing a corset outside of tournaments and dedicating myself to strength training. Thanks to that determination, I was able to continue competing and achieving success.

In February 2023, at the age of 18, I turned professional and played a full season on the LET Access Series. I’m proud to say that my best result in 2023 was a top-ten finish at the Lombardia Ladies Open in Italy. I also placed 26th in my very first professional tournament and shot a round of 69 at the Calatayud Ladies Open.

Amateur Career Highlights:

Before turning professional, I had a strong amateur career with several notable achievements:

2018: Winner of the German Team Championship at age 14

2019: Overall winner of the GJGT (my first WAGR Tournament), which I repeated in 2021

2021/2022: Bavarian Championship Winner (with course records) at ages 16 and 18

2022: Winner of the International Matchplay Trophy

October 2022: I finished my amateur career by winning a WAGR Tournament with a stunning -9 in the final round

After earning my tour card at the Qualifying School in December 2022, I knew it was the right time to pursue my dream of becoming a professional golfer. With the support of my incredible parents, I began competing in the LET Access Series and Ladies European Tour. Now, at 19, I’m in my second season as a pro.

While my parents and I have done everything we can as a team, the financial challenges of competing at this level are real. The prize money in the lower tours is still quite small, and it’s difficult to cover the expenses needed to train, travel, and compete at my best. Each tournament costs around 3,000 euros, and a full season on the LET Access Tour requires 45,000 to 50,000 euros.

In order to continue developing my career and prepare for the 2025 season (which starts in December 2024), I’m seeking donations to help me finance my journey.
