The Rupp Family
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Emily Anderson, and I, together, with family and friends of the Rupp Family, have put together this fundraiser on behalf of my sister-in-law, Amanda Rupp, and her family.
Amanda has been bravely battling brain cancer since the year 2000, when she was in her early twenties. Since then, Amanda has kicked cancer a couple of times, gotten married, given birth to two amazing boys, and moved with her family to Indianapolis to advance her blossoming career. For fourteen years, Amanda was cancer-free, as she and her husband, Mark, raised their two boys (Matt and Andy) in Indianapolis.
In early 2019, Amanda experienced a recurrence. In April of that year, she underwent her third brain surgery. She has been fighting ever since. Amanda's fourth, and most recent brain surgery occurred on April 26, 2021. While undergoing this surgery, Amanda experienced a stroke, which left her paralyzed on her left side. Further, she has also since been given the news that her cancer has progressed to a stage IV glioblastoma.
Amanda is currently working hard in a rehab hospital, with the goal of regaining function of her left side. The expectation is that she will be in the hospital for another month. Unfortunately, because of strict COVID protocols, the boys are unable to visit their mom. It has been pretty devastating for all of them not to be able to see each other.
With this recent tough diagnosis, Amanda and Mark have made the very difficult decision to move their family back to their hometown of St. Louis. Mark and Amanda's families both live in St. Louis, and will be able to provide more support to them and the boys. Their goal is to make the move this summer.
Amanda is continuing to fight every day to regain movement of her left side, and to fight this terrible disease. For the last two decades, we have been in awe of Amanda's toughness, determination, and grit. Now is no exception.
Many people have asked what they can do to help. First and foremost, please keep Amanda, Mark and the boys in your thoughts and prayers. Second, if you feel so inclined, the Rupps would be humbled by any donation to this page. All money will be used to offset Amanda's medical bills as well as moving costs for the family.
Amanda's motto throughout her cancer journey has been, "what matters most is how you walk through the fire." Amanda is walking through this fire with as much grace, humor, and incredible determination as ever. We are so proud of her.
On behalf of Mark, Amanda, and the boys, thank you to everyone who has and continues to show them love and support.
With deep gratitude,
Amanda's Extended Family & Friends
