The ask is for funds which would help support research volunteers, cover costs to hold public forums and panel discussions, video preservation, supplies and media spots to seek indidivuals that are knowledgable on the subject matter, and want to share their story using their own voice.

The Salinas History Project is a three-year project that aims to present a written narrative of urban history that brings the multiple and separate communities in Salinas together to showcase the complex story of this municipality from its nineteenth century founding to the present, with special emphasis on the period after World War II when population growth exploded and urban renewal and redevelopment were in full swing.

The Salinas History Project celebrated its official launch in April, 2017 with an enthusiastic group of nearly seventy Salinas residents and two guest lecturers from Stanford University.  Project Director, Carol Lynn McKibben presented a synopsis of the project's scope and its long-term goals.  It was especially inspiring to see the great turnout from Hartnell College and many local history enthusiasts.

This project is mostly funded by the City of Salinas and through generous grants and private donations.
