Meet Sam! Sam Feagley is a 22 year old from Huntingdon. He is a 2016 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School and is currently studying Integrated Media Arts at Juniata College. Balance and coordination problems started when he was 18 and became increasingly more severe. After many appointments with many specialists, Sam has tentatively been diagnosed with ataxia with oculomotor ataxia type 2 (AOA2) with testing underway to rule out Friedreich’s ataxia. Both are rare, genetic, degenerative neuromuscular diseases.which strike in late adolescence/early adulthood. Symptoms include significant nerve damage and muscle atrophy in the feet, lower legs, hands, and wrists, impaired balance and coordination, atrophy of the cerebellum, peripheral vision issues, nystagmus and muscle pain and spasms. His bedroom is on the second floor and an addition will need to be added for him to have an accessible and independent space. Sam's parents have tried every option they can think of to make the Sam Suite project happen, but they have run into every roadblock imaginable. Let's help them take a major worry off of their plates and build the Sam Suite together!
