Sattva—the quality of positivity + truth that creates harmony, balance, and awakening, generates selfless service, purity of heart, control over senses, truthfulness + compassion toward other beings.
Hi friends—
Dan, Tracy M., + Hannah here! We are yoga teachers and also two recovering alcoholics and the sister of an addict who lost his life to the disease last year.
While the paths that have led us here are at once the same and vastly different, we are united in the pain and powerlessness that the diseases of alcohol & substance addiction present and we are also joined through our personal and volunteer experiences within Chattanooga’s recovery community + in the deep belief that the practice of yoga, both on and off the mat and in a myriad of ways, has perpetually saved us, and offered us a way back to ourselves. We want the same for anyone in recovery who wishes to give yoga a try without financial burden.
The Sattva Foundation's mission is to serve our community by offering scholarships + mentoring to people in active substance recovery programs through partnerships with local yoga studios offering dignified access to the wide spectrum of yoga and the intrinsic body +mind + soul rewards the practice offers, empowering students to choose their own journey of integrated healing…cultivating balance, serenity, and harmony into their lives.
In our first effort at fundraising for this cause, we need your help to raise $625 by February 7 (and $12K for the remainder of the year) to continue serving students in recovery within our Yoga Landing community + soon with your continued support, beyond it.
Seva—(Sanskrit for selfless giving):
$4 = 1 day of yoga
$15 = 1 hour of mentorship
$30 = 1 week of unlimited yoga + community
$125 = 1 month of unlimited yoga + community
Fundraising Goal: $12K
$7500 = unlimited yoga for 5 students/1 year
$500 = new mats + water bottles for 5 students/1 year
$725 = CARTA bus passes/1 year
Any Amount = Seva/Selfless Service
When you partner with The Sattva Foundation, your gift effects people right here in our community and ensures greater access to this practice we all cherish.
Thank you for caring + for your selfless service to others practicing in our home studios.
In immense gratitude + love—
Hannah, Tracy M., + Dan
"Come, come, whoever you are,
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving,
It doesn't matter.
Ours is not a caravan of dispair.
Come, even if you have broken your vow a hundred times.
Come, come again, come.”
