The Shkurupii Family
Donation protected
Hello, our names are David & Alana Hovis and we are fundraising for our new friends the Shkurupii family who are from Kyiv, Ukraine. Max, Viktoriia and their children Anhelina (15) and Daniil (11) moved to Victoria, BC this past November.
When the war broke out, Viktoriia, Anhelina and Daniil were able to initially escape to Portugal. Max remained in Ukraine and supported the war effort by using his own resources to get food and supplies to senior citizens in neighbouring communities. Eventually, Max was also able to rejoin his family in Portugal and then make their way to Canada.
They arrived with little more than a few suitcases full of clothes and have been living in a furnished VRBO apartment. Unfortunately, the cost of their current accommodation has become untenable due to increasing costs. The family has found a two-bedroom apartment to rent for March 1st but requires all the essentials to furnish it.
Both Max and Viktoriia are incredibly community-oriented, hard-working individuals and have secured jobs with a local travel agency. However, arriving in Canada without the support of any private sponsorship is very difficult, particularly when attempting to rebuild and support their family.
Any money raised through GoFundMe goes directly to the family to assist them with furnishing their new apartment.
