The Shoughi Family

On March 28, 2022, our father, husband, and friend Arasb "Ross" Shoughi was involved in a senseless act of violence; the Queens pawnshop owner was savagely beaten with a metal rod — so severely that cops initially thought he had been shot. Arasb Shoughi, 60, was inside the Global Pawn Shop on Jamaica Avenue around 1 p.m. when the male suspect viciously attacked him during a robbery.
The case has been deemed a homicide; disturbing footage released by the NYPD days after the attack shows Shoughi on the floor desperately trying to raise his arms to stop the constant barrage of blows. Instead, his attacker repeatedly pushed the helpless victim back down on the floor to continue the bloody attack.
Ross was full of life; he radiated positivity, joy, and love. He went above and beyond to make those he loved know he was there for them—never expecting anything in return. His loss is an unfathomable tragedy that his loved ones and community will struggle with for years to come. Ross was unexpectedly taken from his family. As the main provider, the money we raise is going towards expenses for The Shoughi Family during this very difficult time. Any contribution is greatly appreciated— May Ross's life forever be celebrated, and may we remember him on his best days.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
