Donation protected
The Silent One is on a mission is to find the Endling of each species and breath with them the final breath into extinction. This fascinating character and powerful storyline form the basis of Ric Averill's production created to bring awareness and spark action to save our planet before it is too late.
Averill is a freelance director, playwright, screenwriter, actor, composer, music director, keyboard player, and conductor. He retired as artistic director, emeritus, of the Lawrence Arts Center, the organization that supported his artistic life for 16 years and allowed him to tour the country (37 states with his Seem-To-Be Players) and produce professional and educational theatre, including the award-winning Summer Youth Theatre program, which he co-founded with actress wife, Jeanne. Averill has been commissioned by the Coterie Theatre in Kansas City, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., First Stage Milwaukee, and San Diego State University’s Theater of the World Festival to write plays and operas.
The Silent One is the creation of Mexican-American artist Guillermo Munro Colosio, called Memuco, who is a painter, illustrator, visual journalist, and designer. Above all Memuco considers himself to be an “environmental art warrior.”
Puppeteer Spencer Lott will bring a key character to life in The Silent One. In addition to playing Julia’s brother Samuel on Sesame Street, his puppetry credits include A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (starring Tom Hanks), Helpsters (Apple+), and Disney’s The Muppets.
The Silent One will include live, original music, video stage drop, characters created in 3D sculpture, professional dancers and actors, technical crew, and promotion team. Educational and cultural partnerships to provide community enrichment will be integral components of this artistic production.
