Hi, I'm Saul Kay and I am taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon 2023 to support the Sittingbourne Carnival Court and its future mission of empowering young people and promoting the town of Sittingbourne. As a teacher at a boys' school in Rochester, I am particularly passionate about wanting to bring some balance to my life and help create opportunities for girls and young women within the community where I live.
The Sittingbourne Carnival Court has a crucial role to play in bringing the community together and fostering a sense of pride in the town. By providing young people with a platform to showcase their talents, participate in community programs, and raise awareness about the town's cultural heritage, the Carnival Court will continue to empower young people and promote the town of Sittingbourne.
The Sittingbourne Carnival Court was recently reformed in January 2023, after the Covid-19 pandemic almost brought the whole idea of the Court to an end. During this time, the Carnival Court float fell into disrepair and suffered storm damage, requiring total refurbishment. My wife Kelly and a number of volunteers have taken it upon themselves to restore the Carnival Court to its former glory, and to bring the idea of 'Miss Sittingbourne' well into the third decade of the 21st century.
The reform of the Sittingbourne Carnival Court is an important step in revitalising the town and its cultural heritage, and my wife Kelly and the volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that the Court continues to provide opportunities for young people to engage with the community and promote the town.
By taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon 2023 and raising funds for the Sittingbourne Carnival Court, I am showing my support for Kelly and the volunteers' efforts to revitalise this important community initiative. The funds raised will go towards the refurbishment of the Carnival Court float, allowing it to continue to bring the community together and foster a sense of pride in the town.
I believe that the Sittingbourne Carnival Court is a vital part of the community, and I am committed to supporting its mission of empowering young people and promoting the town. I am excited to be a part of this initiative and to use my participation in the London Marathon 2023 to bring attention to the important work of the Sittingbourne Carnival Court.
My goal is not just to finish the marathon but to make a meaningful impact on my community. I am passionate about supporting the Sittingbourne Carnival Court and believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for young people, girls and women of Sittingbourne.
