Introduction
My name is Ken Rickabaugh, and today I reach out with a heavy heart, seeking your support for my family during a time of unimaginable loss. In the afternoon of December 14th, 2023, a devastating fire engulfed the home of my Uncle Paul, his husband Tony, my cousin Heather and her sons Maddox and Mason. Tragically, the fire claimed the life of 17-year-old Mason Alexander Stottelmire, a bright and beloved member of our family.
The Tragedy
The fire, which ravaged their home, left nothing but memories in its wake. Uncle Paul, Tony, Heather, and Maddox survived, but they are now grappling with the dual pain of losing Mason and their home. In one night, they lost a cherished son, brother, and their sense of security. As they navigate this heartbreak, they are also faced with the stark reality of being completely displaced, having lost all their possessions.
The Immediate Needs
In the face of this tragedy, the family is confronting immediate needs. They are in dire need of funds to cover the funeral and memorial services for Mason, a young life taken too soon. Additionally, they need to secure temporary housing and begin the process of rebuilding their lives, from clothing and essentials to eventually finding a new place to call home.
Our Plea for Support
This GoFundMe campaign, the "Smith-Higdon-Stottelmire Fire Recovery Fund," is an appeal to your kindness and generosity. We aim to raise funds that will directly assist in covering funeral costs for Mason, providing immediate relief for basic necessities, and aiding in the longer-term recovery and rebuilding process. Every donation, no matter the size, brings a glimmer of hope and comfort to Paul, Tony, Heather, and Maddox.
Your Impact
Your contribution to this campaign is more than a donation; it is a lifeline during this family's darkest hours. It is a message of hope, a gesture of solidarity, and a testament to the power of community in the face of adversity.
Closing
We understand that everyone is fighting their own battles, especially in these challenging times. If you are unable to contribute financially, we deeply appreciate shares of this campaign on social media, and your thoughts and prayers. On behalf of Uncle Paul, Tony, Heather, Maddox, and in loving memory of Mason, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
